More Airline Charges to Come!
Its getting crazy with regards to airlines charging for extras which were once free. You’ve must of heard of the charges for 2nd checked bags by now, but its getting worse. I read recently that some airlines are going to start charging for soft drinks, water and coffee on board. Combine that with restrictions on bring your own beverage through security, and you’re pretty much forced to pay (or go thirsty). $2 for a can of coke — not funny at all. Why can’t airlines just drop the games and be straight with their pricing once and for all. They can’t have their cake and eat it too… meaning they need to choose one:
1) Variable rates for seats but without surcharges and added fees
or
2) Fixed rates across the board, all inclusive.

We’re just back from a round-trip from KC to Austin, TX. Both legs of the trip were morning flights… as in 6 o’clock in the ugly morning. We were seated toward the rear of the plane on both flights, and on both flights they ran out of coffee before getting to us.
How on earth can an airline run out of coffee on an early-morning flight, I asked the attendant.
Turns out they’re only letting attendants make one pot of coffee per fare class on the flight. Ours was entirely coach (it was a small plane), so that meant one pot between 56 people.
I’d gladly have paid $10 for a venti latte, but they wouldn’t let me take it on the plane.

I agree that this whole thing is nuts. How long will it be before they charge us to use the toilets, or maybe charge us for the air we breathe. They really should just factor stuff in to the price of the tickets.
