Stay Safe in the Water
I live about 5 minutes from Lake Lanier here in Georgia and the worst thing to see is the water rescue truck heading sirens flashing to the water. It usually means that someone is in trouble or is already gone. Let me take this opportunity to stress the important of boating safety. Whether you are new to boating or are an old sea dog, its always a good idea to get Boating Education courses every few years to brush up on safety tips and regulations.
Check out this video for some good information on this important subject:
Like the video said, “While boating is fun, fun has responsibilities too!” Don’t make a lovely day on the lake turn into a day you can’t escape.
Yeah, its no joke. Operating Under the Influence (also known as OUI) is as dangerous as driving a car under the influence. Since boating is usually equated with having a good time out on the water, alcohol is more often involved on a boat than it would be in a moving or parked car. Usually the legal limits are the same for driving or boating and in Arizona operating a boat under the influence is a Class One misdemeanor. That’s a serious charge — don’t mess with it!
